Amongst the highlights of Lp(a) research on show at the European Society of Cardiology congress in Munich, Germany (28-31 August 2026), were new insights into reductions in oxidised phospholipids associated with decreases in Lp(a) levels following novel siRNA therapy, evidence of the need for systematic Lp(a) testing for patients after percutaneous coronary intervention, and growing understanding of patient groups most likely to show variability in Lp(a) test results. There were also new data about the link between elevated Lp(a) and high risk coronary plaque, and Phase 2 results for a novel small molecule Lp(a) lowering agent.
