Lp(a): What do the guidelines say?
Multiple international and national guidelines recognise Lp(a) as a risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and aortic valve stenosis, as well as cardiovascular (CV) and all-cause mortality, based on genetic and observational studies.1-5 Lp(a) concentration in the general population ranges from <0.1 mg/dL to >300 mg/dL (<0.2–750 nmol/L), and is mainly determined by genetics (>90%) – to a greater degree than any other lipoprotein.1
