
Raised Lp(a) linked to carotid artery ulceration

Elevated Lp(a) levels are associated with carotid artery ulceration in patients who may be considered candidates for surgical treatment. This was the conclusion of researchers following a study of lipid biomarkers of carotid ulceration in 94 patients with carotid artery stenosis, of whom 38 had confirmed carotid artery ulceration on digital subtraction angiography.
